Joseph Wiseman as Dr. No
Joseph Wiseman is a talented and intense character actor who's versatile career has spanned over fifty years in theater, films and TV productions.
Born May 15, 1918, in Montreal, Canada, Wiseman began his career as a stage actor. He came to the Broadway stage in the mid 1930's, where he received critical acclaim as "Edmund" in King Lear, "Fuselli" in Clifford Odets' Golden Boy and as "Astrov" in Uncle Vanya by Chekov among others.
Wiseman debuted on TV in the 1949 series Suspense. Since then, he has starred in a wide variety of TV projects including The Untouchables, Night Gallery, The Twilight Zone, Magnum P.I., The A Team, MacGyver and Law and Order.
His first major screen role was in 1951, recreating his stage performance of a wiseguy in the film Detective Story. However, Wiseman is best known for his portrayal of the villain in the first Bond film, Dr. No (1962). After that, Wiseman found that he was frequently typecast as the villain. He went on to star in many films including The Outsider, The Counterfeit Killer, The Valachi Papers, Journey into Fear, The Betsy, and Crime Story. Wiseman also voiced the first Ernest Stavro Blofeld in the 1965 Bond film, Thunderball.
